Inspired by:
Gospel of Mark 6:45-52
Gospel of John 11:1-44
I said it with an edge of uncertainty
in my voice
Like the one that I wanted to convince
was me
I said that the only authority
was freedom of choice
And I swore that what I am is all
I was meant to be
I said that I knew in my heart that
I'd been pretty good
And if there was a God He'd be
good, too
And at first it seemed to me he
was starting to agree
When he looked me in the eye and
said, It's true...
All you have to do is walk on
water
All you have to do is raise
the dead
All you have to do is live a
life like no one ever lived
And say the wisest things that
ever have been said
That's all you have to do...
and the world will revolve around you
Well, I said I could imagine there
wasn't any place like heaven
I said that it would be easy if
you try
So why should I believe a book
written two thousand years ago
I'd rather just live for me, myself
and I
So I concluded that I didn't think
I really needed a savior
And I said that I didn't think
Jesus needed to die
And he said that I was probably
right, 'cause nobody's perfect
So what if I can't see the way
with this log in my eye
Sure, you can be your own god
You can even gain a following,
it isn't very hard...
That's all you have to do... and you will be good enough, too
That's all you have to do...
that's all you have to do
